To celebrate an event or simply to have a good time, the French like to go to a restaurant on different occasions. In France, there are many restaurants and you can taste French specialties  as well as world cuisine.

The prices charged in restaurants are very variable and not always affordable for a student. They can range from ten euros for a full meal in a neighborhood restaurant to several hundred euros in the great starred gourmet restaurants of famous chefs such as Hélène Darroze, Paul Bocuse or Alain Ducasse. A word of advice: always read the menu and the prices before settling down.

At home as on vacation, here is a tradition that the French like to perpetuate: going to the market. If you love to cook , mingle with the crowds and browse the aisles of the market closest to you. You will find fresh fruits and vegetables, cooked dishes, specialties of the region.

UNIVERSITY RESTAURANTS

French students regularly frequent university restaurants for a question of budget and for practical reasons. Often located on campuses or close to city center universities, do not hesitate to push the door of one of the 450 university restaurants in France.

For 3.25 euros, you enjoy a complete meal starter-main course-dessert.

To access it and pay for your meal, simply present your student card. Managed by the CROUS, some are even open in the evenings and on weekends.

THE FOOD TRUCKS

To vary the pleasures, let yourself be tempted by one of the many Food Trucks parked at street corners or at the exit of universities. Burgers, hot dogs, regional specialties or world cuisine, there is something for everyone. They offer an original, tasty and often economical solution for eating on the go.

Worthy heirs to pizza trucks and fries stands, they are very popular in town and at events such as festivals.

BUY TAKEOUT OR HAVE YOUR MEAL DELIVERED

If you’re not good at cooking or if you don’t have enough time to prepare a good meal, you can buy take-out in many caterers or restaurants (especially pizzerias).

Home delivery services are very widespread in France. Many restaurants offer this solution to their customers.
